What is the Nam Il TR-100 Thermistor Relay?
Nam Il TR-100 is a thermistor relay that can identify over-temperature faults in electric motors and industrial devices. The device is operated together with PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) thermistors incorporated within motor windings. As the motor temperature gets to a threshold value, thermistors increase in resistance steeply, prompting the relay to disconnect the motor from the mains.
This simple but efficient principle assists in safeguarding motors against expensive damage caused by overheating, enhancing safety and increasing equipment lifespan.
How Does It Work?
At the core of the TR-100 is a very sensitive relay that keeps track of resistance levels from attached thermistors. When a motor is running within its safe temperature range, the thermistors have low resistance. But as the motor warms up and approaches a threshold, the resistance jumps—this is sensed by the TR-100, which then activates its output relay to shut down or sound an alarm.
After the motor has cooled down, the resistance returns to its normal value, and the relay resets, as well as the system being restarted safely.
Features of the Nam Il TR-100
The TR-100 excels in a series of functional features that ensure it is a safe and convenient option:
1. Multi-Thermistor Monitoring
It accommodates a maximum of six thermistors in series, with complete monitoring of multi-phase motors or systems having multiple temperature-sensing points.
2. Wide Operating Voltage
The TR-100 is configured to work in a broad range of input voltage (usually AC 220V, 50/60Hz), which fits most industrial environments.
3. Compact and Durable Design
Due to its small size and rugged design, the TR-100 is well-suited to fit into control panels and withstand wear and tear in harsh environments.
4. LED Status Indicators
It features LED indicators displaying power and fault status instantly—enabling operators to quickly determine system conditions without additional tools.
5. Fail-Safe Operation
Should a sensor fail or be disconnected, the relay closes, so the system remains secure, even under unexpected conditions.
Uses for the TR-100
The adaptability of the TR-100 allows it to be applied in many uses:
Industrial Motors: Stops thermal damage on heavy-duty equipment.
HVAC Systems: Allows air handling units and compressors to run at safe temperatures.
Pumps and Fans: Prevents components from overheating.
Conveyors and Elevators: Suitable for continuous operation equipment where motor breakdown can shut down production.
Marine Equipment: Resists hostile environments while maintaining motors protected onboard ships and offshore platforms.
