What is the MTL2212?

The MTL2212 is a three-channel, switch-controlled relay that is part of MTL’s 2200 Series. It’s designed to connect field switches, such as proximity detectors or limit switches, to control room systems in a safe and efficient way. Each of the three channels provides an independent field circuit to control its corresponding relay contact in the safe area, providing secure signal transmission and isolation.

How Does It Work?

The MTL2212 is basically a signal interface between control systems and field switches. When a field switch is closed (activated), the associated relay in the safe area is powered. This enables safe transmission of switch status without subjecting the control room to possible field hazards.

All channels can be run independently. Channel 1 might be used to monitor a machine arm limit switch, Channel 2 to monitor a tank level sensor, and Channel 3 to monitor a valve position—all via the same compact unit.
